Sadie
Valeri is a classical realist oil painter currently creating a series
of still lifes of transparent and reflective objects in her San Francisco,
California studio.
Raised in Salem, Massachusetts, Sadie graduated from the Rhode Island
School of Design with a BFA in Illustration in 1993. She has since studied
with some of the most important realist artists working today, including:
Juliette Aristides,
Michael Grimaldi,
Ted Seth Jacobs,
and Dan Thompson
at Bay Area Classical
Artist Atelier;
Timothy Stotz and Michelle Tully at Studio Escalier; and
Jacob Collins at the Hudson River Fellowship.
Sadie is currently studying Écorché/Anatomy
with Andrew Ameral.
Travel has been fundamental to Sadie's development as an artist ever since
she lived in Paris for six months as an art student attending Parsons Paris.
Since then she has traveled to Greece and Italy in addition to many trips
back to France.
All of her travels are art trips, focused on visiting the artistic masterworks
of the world.
Since October 2006 Sadie has recorded every aspect of her artistic development
on her blog. Here she invites
you into the studio to share her ongoing study of painting and drawing,
diaries of her art travels, and documentation of each of her paintings,
including video demonstrations.
Sadie has taught graduate students at the Academy of Art University in
San Francisco. She also offers private workshops and classes at her San Francisco

Sadie lives in San Francisco, California with her husband, Nowell Valeri,
and their three orange tabby cats.
